Cabinet by David Booth and Judith Ledeboer for Gordon Russell Ltd
The cabinet by David Booth and Judith Ledeboer captures simple British modernism with a subtle decorative quality. The high-quality construction by Gordon Russell Ltd. employs exotic hardwoods including mahogany and veneers in Bombay rosewood.
This design was displayed at the Festival of Britain in the ‘Home and Gardens’ building. It proved to be an iconic reference for the period, a later version by the designers appearing as a motif on the Homemaker range of plates and dinnerware.
The Booth & Ledeboer design is in the V&A permanent collection.
The example offered is an early production bearing the Utility Mark on the reverse.
